Going to work can be a struggle at the best of times but going to work with a throbbing headache whilst trying to recover from jet lag can be a massive pain in the butt. Knowing you have the option to sit down and curl over a desk or hide in the stockroom (both of which I've done at previous employments) can go some way in making it a wee bit bearable. However, with my job as a model these opportunities of relief are few and far between. Now it wouldn't be all that bad normally but when your job revolves mainly around your face then looking like a pasty Pom with a grimace for a smile won't quite cut it. The words ‘fake it till you make it’ is an expression that springs to mind.

"bras 'N' things....things being cupcakes."

Lucky for me though todays prop was a nice, comfy bed which not only made for an inviting looking set but was the ideal mid-shot respite. A cheeky little lie down here and there did me a world of good and being a regular model for bras 'N' things the team were happy to oblige my "diva like" behaviour. It also helped that the first 2 hours were spent chilling out in the make up chair getting beautified and fluffed by the fabulous Jessica Mercuri.

Oh sorry, am I supposed to be working? Off duty model.

bras ’N’ things usually go for a natural make up look with strong contour and lots of highlight. The hair is curled then softly brushed out creating that desirable bed head style (which most ladies can testify is not as easy as it sounds. And no, it's not a matter of just waking up and getting out of bed).

Model Getting Hair And Make Up Done

The set for bras N things is a huge warehouse based out in West Gosford, which when you live in the Eastern Suburbs feels like the other side of the country but is really only an hour and a half away. The warehouse is owned by photographer Neil Dixon and if fully decked out with dressing rooms, make up table and lights and an array of weird and wacky props. From window frames to palm trees and old crates to blow up Santas. Being on set with the team is always a good laugh. Never short of ridiculous stories, sing-a-longs and embarrassing photos (yes Jules, I mean you), the day seems to fly by and soon enough my headache and jet lag are a thing of the past. The shoot begins with all the lingerie (which is ideal as food babies and underwear just don't mix) with the afternoon mainly focusing on PJs and sports bras.

Behind The Scenes Bras N Things

The shoot pretty much consists of me prancing around on a bed or draping myself against a wall trying to make the underwear look as desirable as possible. Not so easy when someone’s iPhone is blasting out Disney tunes (which I love, don't get me wrong) but The Little Mermaid doesn’t exactly say sexy.

Model Eating Lunch On Set With Crew

Lunch today was sushi. What more could a girl want? Diving into various fishy delights of salmon, prawn and tuna sushi and fried, pork gyoza we make the most of our 1 hour break and chill out before getting re-fluffed for the rest of the shoot. After lunch fellow model Jordan Simek joined the party who was booked to shoot later on in the afternoon.

The ultimate in dairy free cupcakes

The ultimate in dairy free cupcakes

After more pillow hugging and hair flicking it was time for me to wrap. Finishing at 3pm was a dream but the biggest bonus of the day was being able to scoff down (guilt free) one of Neil’s homemade dairy and sugar free cupcakes. Neil unfortunately has an intolerance to dairy but it's meant he has perfected the art of the dairy free cupcake. Now not one to usually enjoy the “everything free” sweet but if I didn't know, I would never have guessed. THAT'S how bloomin' good it was. Plus it looked pretty so how could I resist.

"YOU LOOK GORGEOUS!!!....said the photographer to the cupcake."

Who knew cupcakes could be so funny......

Back in my track pants and t-shirt, with hair pulled back, face make up free and nicely full on sushi and cake it was time to head off back to the Eastern Suburbs……and it was sing-a-long Disney all the way.
